Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Keesler Federal changing to tap to pay/contactless debit cards?

Contactless debit cards provide additional security from skimming devices and provide an easier way to pay at point of sale terminals.

What is a tap to pay/contactless card?

Contactless cards have special computer chips in them. This enables you to ‘tap’ your card at any ATM or point of sale terminal with the contactless symbol. In addition to expediting your purchases, contactless cards help prevent fraud caused by skimming devices, creating additional security for you as a consumer.

When will tap to pay/contactless card be available?

Members whose cards are scheduled to expire in October will automatically receive new ‘tap to pay’ / contactless debit cards in late September by mail.

‘Tap to pay’ / contactless debit cards will be available for order in branch or by calling   888-533-7537 in late September and be delivered via mail in 7-10 days.

Will my debit card account number change?

No. When your current debit card expires, a new contactless one will be issued with your same number.

If you decide to order a contactless card before your card’s expiration date, it will be ordered and reprinted with your existing account number.

If my existing debit card has not expired, do I need to do anything?

Your card should work as normal for purchases and ATM withdrawals. However, if you have set card alerts in online banking, you will need to reset these after September 22.

Can I order a new tap to pay/contactless card before my current card expires?

Yes. You can order a new card in branch or by phone 888-533-7537 at no charge for the first issue. The card will arrive between 7-10 days by mail.

Will there be any disruption to debit card services?

While we don’t anticipate any disruption to your debit card services during this transition to ‘tap to pay’ / contactless card, you may want to make plans for alternate methods of payment (cash, credit card, etc.) from September 19-22.

What happens if my debit card is lost/stolen/damaged during this transition?

If your card is lost/stolen/damaged from September 15 to 22, call 888-533-7537 or visit a branch and a new card will be ordered. Shipping will be expedited to you with delivery expected no later than September 24.

Will instant issue cards still be available in branch?

Instant issue cards printed in branch will be temporarily unavailable during this transition, but available after September 22 in a new standard card design.

Do I need to re-enroll my card in my digital wallet (i.e. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay)?

No, your debit card should work as normal since the account number will not be changing. Amazon One Pay will also now be available as an option to add to your digital wallet.
